4. Eligibility Criteria โ Who Can Appear?
A. Indian Nationals & OCI/PIO (I) Candidates
You must satisfy all five of the following requirements:
1. JEE Main 2026 Performance
Be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates in the B.E./B.Tech. paper. Breakdown: OPEN: 1,01,250 | GEN-EWS: 25,000 | OBC-NCL: 67,500 | SC: 37,500 | ST: 18,750.
2. Age Limit
Born on or after October 1, 2001. (5 years relaxation for SC/ST/PwD: born on or after October 1, 1996).
3. Number of Attempts
A maximum of two attempts in two consecutive years.
4. Class XII Appearance
First appearance in Class XII (with Physics, Chemistry, Math) in 2025 or 2026. Prior appearances generally disqualify you.
You must not have been admitted to any IIT program under JoSAA 2025 unless you withdrew before the last round, did not report, or had your seat cancelled before the final round.
B. Foreign Nationals & OCI/PIO (F) Candidates
- No JEE Main required.
- Subject to separate registration and supernumerary seats (up to 10% of each course).
- Must meet similar age, attempt, Class XII, and previous admission criteria.
- Registration dates: April 6, 2026 to May 2, 2026.

Defence Service (DS): Two seats per institute are available for children of defence/paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action.
Supernumerary Seats for Female Candidates: IITs will offer additional seats to ensure at least 20% female enrolment.

7. Admit Card & Required Documents
Admit Card Download: Available from May 11, 2026 (17:00 IST) until May 17, 2026 (14:30 IST). Must be carried along with a valid original photo ID.
- Class X certificate (for Date of Birth) or Birth Certificate.
- Class XII marksheet.
- Category Certificates (GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL must be issued on or after April 1, 2026).
- PwD UDID card / Disability certificate (and scribe request forms if applicable).
8. Exam Pattern, Syllabus & Cities
- Structure: Two compulsory papers (Paper 1 & Paper 2), each of 3 hours duration.
- Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
- Marking Scheme: Question types test comprehension, reasoning, and analytical ability. There is negative marking for some questions.
- Exam Cities: You must choose 10 cities in order of preference during registration. E.g., IIT Roorkee zone includes Chandigarh, Ambala, Shimla, Mohali, etc.
9. Results, Ranks & Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT)
Result Date: June 1, 2026. Rank lists are prepared based on aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Required for B.Arch. at IIT (BHU) Varanasi, IIT Kharagpur, or IIT Roorkee. Only JEE Advanced qualified candidates can register.

- AAT Exam: June 4, 2026.
- AAT Result: June 7, 2026.
