Perfect Exam Day Morning Routine that IIT Toppers Follow

exam day morning routine

The day of the exam is strenuous for every student. They carry an unwanted amount of pressure that can jeopardise the whole exam. It is essential to come up with a routine that can help in reducing the unnecessary tension due to exams.

Here’s a list of things that can be incorporated on the exam day morning routine that IIT toppers follow on the scheduled day of the exam.

The day before the exam is equally important as the day of the exam.

The golden rules to be followed on the day before include:

Say NO to screen time.

The day before the exam should be peaceful. Once you are done with the last minute look through, close the books and any screens beside you. It is fitting not to spend much time on any screens, even if it is an exam-related video. Assure yourself of your preparation and try to sleep earlier than usual.

Avoid caffeine

Late-night consumption of caffeinated drinks can deliberately affect your plans to wake up early on exam day. It will also hamper the much-needed sleep schedule. When sleep is incomplete, it can leave you tired and exhausted on exam day. Having even a little caffeine the previous night can affect the performance as well.

Perfect Exam Day Morning Routine that IIT Toppers Follow

Now, let us move on to the perfect exam day morning routine that IIT toppers follow. The timings mentioned here are based on the assumption that the exams start at 9 AM. Include the time required to travel to and from the exam centre and accordingly adjust the schedule.

6 AM

The first thing to tell yourself to do is to wake up early. Rising early in the morning can bring a fresh perspective on a new day. It will be hard to get up if you haven’t tried this in a long time. So, make sure you have this routine at least a week before your exam day.

6 AM to 6:20 AM

Charge your body by bringing in a ten-minute meditation. Concentrate on your breathing and feel at ease. Good breathing exercises will do wonders to calm your stressed nerves. Giving some positive affirmations to yourself is another element you can add in the first twenty minutes after waking up. Getting out and getting some vitamin D can energise you for the day ahead. Visualize yourself writing the exam effortlessly.

6:20 AM to 7:20 AM

Prepare yourself for a power revision. Revise the short notes prepared from the study materials given by your JEE coaching centre in Kerala again on the day before the exam. This will help in avoiding the last-minute hustle. Do not pick a whole topic to revise. Instead, take up formulas and one-line concepts, which can enhance your revision strategy.

7:20 AM to 7:45 AM

Set aside all your books and materials and prepare yourself for the day. Wear clothes that make you comfortable and feel at ease. The exam fear is psychological. When you feel good and dress well, you can slowly feel that burden of pressure lifting away from you. Wearing your happy and favourite clothes can make you feel a lot better from the inside.

It would be perfect to have the clothes and other necessary requirements laid out neatly the day before to avoid last-minute confusion and tension.

7:45 AM to 8 A.M.

Have a very healthy breakfast. All of the benefits of eating a well-balanced, easily digestible diet will help you retain all of the freshness that you absorbed in the morning. Do not overeat. Overeating might lead to snoozing off while at the examination centre.

8 AM to 8:15 AM

Make sure you have all the required documents for the examination. Taking the academic supplies like a pen, pencil, ID card, geometry box, hall ticket etc., has to be given a last-minute check.

Make sure you do not leave for your exam centre at the brink of the line. Prepare yourself and leave before the schedule so that you don’t rush and exhaust yourself.

Relieve yourself from the stress by seeing yourself as a rockstar and reminding the faith you have in yourself. Listening to music on the way to the exam centre will help you cool down.

Overall Exam Day Tips:

1. Have a healthy breakfast

Having a well-laid plate of breakfast can help you through the exam without any hiccups. Eating foods with high carbs and low sugar will help you sustain yourself through the exam without any grumbling tummy. Do not leave for the exam on an empty stomach.

2. Get to the venue early!

Leaving before the schedule will be a fitting option. Reaching the venue at least thirty minutes before the scheduled time will give you time to adjust to the environment. It will help you relax better before the exam starts.

3. Don’t think about what you don’t know!

Everyone doesn’t need to know everything. Do not start fretting about the topics you have less knowledge about. Instead, start affirming the techniques you possess. Start dotting on the concepts you know; you will start feeling good about the whole situation.

4. Be confident

Self-confidence is an important element to have for oneself. Grab on to that and believe in what you have studied in your JEE coaching centre or online JEE coaching in Kerala. Have faith that you will be able to do a really good job.

5. Read over your notes one last time!

Skimming through your pre-made revision notes will help you go through the concepts for one last time. Reading through self-written notes will help you grab concepts quickly just before the exam.

6. Surround yourself with the optimistic kind.

Be around people who are easygoing and do not let negativity get into your head. People are capable of ruining your confidence for their own selfish needs. Stay away from such people and sit alone if needed.

7. Give yourself a PEP talk!

Who can boost yourself other than you? Believe that you are the best and you can do it. It is the easiest way to uplift your confidence.
