The Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) is arguably the most prestigious destination in India for students who love numbers. Known globally for its research and academic rigor, ISI has released its admission notification for the academic year 2026-27.
Unlike typical engineering colleges, ISI offers a unique learning environment where education is often free, and students actually receive a monthly stipend to study!
This guide covers everything you need to know about the Undergraduate (UG) courses offered this year: B.Stat (Hons), B.Math (Hons), and the newly introduced B.SDS (Hons).
🎓 Undergraduate Courses Offered (2026-27)
For students completing their 10+2 education, ISI offers three distinct Honours programmes.
B.Stat (Hons)
B.Math (Hons)
B.SDS (Hons)
Tuition: ₹1,00,000 per semester (full waivers available)
✅ Eligibility Criteria (Who Can Apply?)
For B Stat (Hons) & B Math (Hons)
- Education: Successful completion of 10+2 (or equivalent).
- Subjects: Must have studied Mathematics and English at 10+2 level.
For B SDS (Hons)
- Education: Successful completion of 10+2 in 2025 or 2026.
- Subjects: Mathematics/Applied Mathematics and English.
- Minimum marks: At least 75% aggregate in Mathematics, English, and the three best other subjects (65% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates).
📝 Selection Procedure: How to Get In?
1️⃣ For B Stat (Hons) & B Math (Hons)
Standard Route (ISI Test): Clear ISI Admission Test on May 10, 2026. Two written papers: UGA (MCQ Mathematics) and UGB (Descriptive Mathematics). Shortlisted candidates called for Interview.
2️⃣ For B SDS (Hons)
NO separate ISI written test. Admission based on scores from one of:
- JEE Main (2025 or 2026)
- CUET UG (2025 or 2026) in Mathematics & English.

- Visit the official portal: https://admission.isical.ac.in/
- Register with your email and choose “Applicant Type” (Indian Citizen/OCI).
- Fill out the application form and upload photo/signature.
- Pay the application fee online.
ISI is an “Institution of National Importance”. Getting into B.Stat or B.Math means joining an elite group of students with zero tuition fees and a monthly stipend. Even the new B.SDS course offers a direct pathway into the booming data science industry.
