Why is NTA Releasing the Answer Key Before OMR Scanning?

In a major shift toward faster result declaration, the NTA has launched the Answer Key Challenge process simultaneously while the scanning of individual OMR answer sheets is still in progress.

NTA’s Objective

“By enabling expert review of the challenges to commence in parallel with OMR scanning, rather than sequentially after it, the National Testing Agency aims to publish the final answer key and declare the result at the earliest possible date.”

  • Please Note: Your individual scanned OMR response sheet is not available at this stage.
  • Candidates will be given a separate opportunity to view their OMR sheets once the scanning phase concludes.

Critical Rules for Raising a Challenge

Before you log in to the portal, keep these essential terms in mind to avoid losing your processing fee:

Check Your Series Code

You must submit challenges only under your own Question Paper Series Code (the one printed on the Test Booklet you took home).

Uniform Application

If a subject expert panel accepts a challenge, the correction will be applied uniformly to all candidates across all four sets.

One-Time Submission

The submission is final. No modifications or additions can be made to your challenges after the payment is completed.

Online Mode Only

Challenges sent via email, fax, or physical letters will not be entertained. Ensure you use the official online portal.

Step-by-Step Guide to Challenge NEET 2026 Answer Key

  1. Enter Your Code: Go to neet.nta.nic.in and enter the Question Paper Series Code printed on your Test Booklet.
  2. Select Questions: Pick all the questions you wish to challenge against the declared provisional key.
  3. Provide Evidence & Remarks: Add remarks and upload authentic documentary evidence. Acceptable sources include standard textbooks, NCERT, or reputable academic publications.
  4. Review Selections: Carefully review your listed challenges, as no changes can be made later.

What Happens After Submission?

All challenges submitted within the timeline will be reviewed by a panel of designated subject matter experts. If an objection is found correct on merit, the provisional answer key will be revised.

The evaluation of all OMR sheets will be conducted based on this revised final answer key. While individual decisions will not be sent to candidates, the revised final key will be published on the website, and the ₹200 fee will be refunded in full for every accepted challenge.
