Nativity Categories Explained (Very Important)

1. Keralite

Only Keralite candidates are eligible for:

  • Communal reservation
  • Special reservation
  • Fee concessions

Accepted proofs include:

  • SSLC showing Kerala birthplace
  • Parent’s SSLC with Kerala birthplace + relationship proof
  • Passport with Kerala birthplace
  • Birth certificate from Panchayat/Municipality
  • Village Officer / Tahsildar certificate (prescribed format)

2. Non-Keralite Category I (NK I)

Eligible for State Merit seats only (no reservation):

  • Studied in Kerala (Std 8–12)
  • Children of Govt of India / Defence / Kerala Govt employees
  • Kerala residents for 5 years within last 12 years

3. Non-Keralite Category II (NK II)

  • Limited eligibility
  • Not eligible for Government Medical, Engineering, Pharmacy, Architecture seats
  • No reservation or fee concession
