JEE Main 2026: Your One-Time Chance to Correct Application Form is Here!

If you’ve applied for the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 and spotted a small error in your form, here’s your sigh of relief. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced a correction window, allowing candidates to fix specific details in their applications.

Mark your calendars! This is a one-time opportunity, so you’ll want to get it right.

Key Dates for the JEE Main 2026 Correction Window

The correction facility will be active for a very short period:

  • Starts: 1st December 2025
  • Ends: 2nd December 2025 (until 11:50 PM)

The NTA has made it clear that no corrections will be entertained after this deadline under any circumstances. So, set a reminder now!

What You CAN Change in Your JEE Main Form

The good news is that you can correct some of the most critical details. Here’s a breakdown of the fields you can edit:

✅ Personal & Identity Details (With Care)

You can change any one of the following three fields:

  • Candidate’s Name
  • Father’s Name
  • Mother’s Name

You can change all of the following fields:

  • Date of Birth
  • Gender
  • Category (e.g., General, OBC, SC, ST)
  • PwD (Persons with Disability) Status (if not already verified by the UDID portal)
  • Your Signature

✅ Academic & Eligibility Details

You can change all fields related to:

  • Class 10th/equivalent details
  • Class 12th/equivalent details
  • State Code of Eligibility

✅ Exam-Related Preferences

  • Examination City: You can change your preferred exam city based on your permanent and present addresses. (Note: NTA has clarified they are not bound to allot your first choice)
  • Medium of Examination: You can select your preferred language for the exam.
  • Paper: You can add a Paper (e.g., if you forgot to select B.Planning or B.Arch).

✅ For Those Who Didn’t Use Aadhaar

If you registered with an identity card other than Aadhaar, you will be allowed to update your Aadhaar details during this window.

What You CANNOT Change

It’s equally important to know what is locked in and cannot be altered:

  • ❌ Mobile Number
  • ❌ Email Address
  • ❌ Permanent and Present Address
  • ❌ Emergency Contact Details
  • ❌ Your Photograph

Be extra cautious with these, as they are your primary points of contact with the NTA.

Important Points to Remember Before You Correct

  1. Additional Fee: If your changes impact the application fee (for example, changing from General to a fee-exempt category), you will have to pay the difference. The payment can be made via Credit/Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
  2. Form Freezes After Submission: Once you make the corrections and submit them, your application form will be frozen and cannot be edited again.
  3. Verify Carefully: This is a one-time facility. Double-check every field before the final submission to avoid any last-minute panic.
  4. Haven’t Applied Yet? The last date for the initial submission of the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 application is 27th November 2025, with no further extension expected.

How to Make Corrections

  1. Visit the official JEE Main website: https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/
  2. Log in using your application credentials.
  3. Navigate to the “Application Correction” link (active from Dec 1).
  4. Carefully make the necessary changes and proceed with payment if applicable.
