What You Need to Know About the Entrance Exams
Securing a seat in top-tier institutes requires clearing specific national-level entrance exams. Here is a quick breakdown of the exams you need to conquer:1. JEE Main Paper 2 (Paper 2A & Paper 2B)
The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts JEE Main Paper 2 for admission into government-funded technical institutes like NITs and SPAs (School of Planning and Architecture).- Paper 2A (B.Arch): A 400-mark exam featuring 77 questions. It includes Computer-Based Tests for Mathematics and Aptitude, alongside an offline (pen-and-paper) Drawing Test to evaluate your sketching and aesthetic skills.
- Paper 2B (B.Planning): A 400-mark, fully Computer-Based Test with 100 questions covering Mathematics, Aptitude, and Planning-based Multiple Choice Questions.
- Important Update: In Section B (numerical value questions) of the Mathematics portion, candidates must now attempt all 5 questions—optional questions have been removed.
2. NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture)
NATA is a mandatory exam for almost all other architecture colleges across India that do not rely on JEE Main scores.- Exam Flexibility: NATA is usually conducted multiple times a year, allowing candidates to attempt the exam up to three times, with their best score considered for admission.
- Exam Pattern: The 200-mark exam is a 3-hour hybrid test. Part A evaluates Drawing and Composition (including 3D modeling skills), while Part B is a computer-based test covering general aptitude, visual reasoning, and basic mathematics.
