AIIMS institutes are the most prestigious medical institutes in India. There are 23 AIIMS institutes in India, of which 20 are participating in the NEET All India Allotment. Till 2019, AIIMS institutes had separate entrance examinations for admission. Now, the admission is based on the NEET score. Based on the NIRF ranking 2023, AIIMS Delhi occupied the first position as the best medical institute in India, followed by AIIMS Jodhpur in the 13th position.

Twenty AIIMS Institute in India

AIIMS Delhi, AIIMS Jodhpur, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, AIIMS Rishikesh, and AIIMS Patna are the top AIIMS institutes in India. In the NIRF 2023 ranking, AIIMS Bhubaneswar secured the 17th position, AIIMS Rishikesh secured the 22nd position and AIIMS Patna 27th position as the best medical institute.

MBBS Seats in AIIMS Institutes

There are a total of 2044 MBBS seats in 20 AIIMS institutes collectively. AIIMS Delhi provides 125 MBBS seats for medical aspirants in India and an additional 1 seat for NRI candidates. Out of the 125 MBBS seats, 18 are reserved for the SC category, 9 for the ST category, 46 for the general category, and 32 for other backward classes. Other AIIMS institutes that provide 125 MBBS seats are AIIMS Bhopal, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, AIIMS Jodhpur, AIIMS Patna, AIIMS Raipur, AIIMS Rishikesh, AIIMS Nagpur, AIIMS Kalyani, AIIMS Gorakhpur, and AIIMS Mangalagiri. The reservation policy for admission to these AIIMS institutes for Indian nationals is as follows: Scheduled Tribes (ST) hold 15% of the reserved seats, followed by Scheduled Castes (SC) at 7.5% and Other Backward Classes (OBC) at 27%.

AIIMS Bathinda, AIIMS Deogarh, AIIMS Rae Bareli, and AIIMS Hyderabad provide 100 MBBS seats for the students, of which 15% are reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 7.5% for Scheduled Castes (SC), and 27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC). AIIMS Guwahati, AIIMS Madurai, AIIMS Bilaspur, and AIIMS Rajkot have an annual intake of 50 MBBS students.
